Worldbuilding: The Video Game Concept to Transform Your Environment

Your life is a video game.

You're the main character.

Your environment is your world.

The things you do are the accomplishments and quests you complete within the game.

You earn rewards for accomplishing your daily quests.

And each quest you complete levels your character up.

But there is one distinct difference between you and the main character in an actual video game: You aren’t computer code. You’re a human being.

This article will explain the advantages of this difference.

Let’s dive in.

What is "worldbuilding?"

Worldbuilding is the process of creating the landscape, world, and even universe in a video game.

You have a unique opportunity that video game characters typically don't have: You get to create your environment.

In essence, not only are you the main character, but you're a game designer too.

As the game designer, you create the environment surrounding the main character.

Everything is at your disposal:

-Planets

-Climates

-Terrains

-Biomes

-Time

-Nature

-Wildlife

-And more...

As the designer of your life, you get to choose the environment you live in.

While you don't have the same number of options available in the real world, you can still affect the environment you live in.

Let's break these options down into the macro and micro-level environment changes you could make.

Macro-level worldbuilding

This is the physical environment you live in.

This includes:

-Where you live: Your region, country, state, town, and neighborhood

-Your home

-Your work environment

-And more

You can change each of these elements if they aren't serving you.

Yes, it may be difficult to change some of these elements.

But you can change them.

These changes can have big impacts on your life. Or they can have minimal impacts at all.

Micro-level worldbuilding

These are elements within your environment you can change. They are elements within the physical environment you live in.

This includes:

-Your mindset

-The people you surround yourself with regularly

-When you do things

-The equipment you use

-The food you eat

-And more

Micro-level environment changes can produce BIG results. Don't underestimate their power.

These changes compound on top of each other. Each change makes the impact of the previous change more significant.

But why would you want to build your environment?

Transforming your environment helps you reach your goals (the final game level) more easily.

Your environment can remove obstacles that would normally impede your progress.

One example of this is keeping junk food out of the house if you’re trying to lose weight.

Building your environment gives you a lot of customization options to improve your quality of life.

Each element you change can produce a different result on your progress within the game. Some element changes can help you reach your goals quickly. Other element changes may slow you down. Experiment and find what works best for you.

Your environment can either help you, or it can hurt you.

The choice is yours.

Wrapping up

Even though you’re the main character in your own game, you have the ability to change your environment.

You’re essentially playing with cheat codes. There aren’t many games where you get to manipulate your environment unless you’re using cheat codes.

Playing with cheat codes is a ton of fun. Life should be too.

But don’t get drunk off of the newfound power this mindset shift has given you.

Manipulate your environment to progress through the game of life easier.
